Fake Sincerity: A LinkedIn Message that Bugs Me

LinkedIn MessageToday I got this LinkedIn connect message from someone who's in a group with me. He's offering to help me -- or at least, I think he says he is.

Good Afternoon,

I am looking to build relationships inside LinkedIn, and with a fairly large client portfolio, could offer you a lucrative referral relationship. Take a few minutes and send me a message describing what you look for when prospecting potential customers. I may have some of the contacts that you would like to be connected to.

But I don't believe him one little bit. Under the auspices of being willing to connect me with potential customers, he's really just trolling for business.

Fake sincerity leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Probably in yours too. And, the truth is, we're all pretty good at sensing a person's true intentions.

What do you think?
